Our World and Our Lives
We all know that being a woman in today's world can be difficult,
but we're doing it. We also know that our lives today often don't
square with what the second wave says they should be.
This isn't really a surprise. The women's movement has
effectively begun a huge transformation of society, and the first
and second waves of feminism started the ball rolling. And any
time a social change of this magnitude gets underway, it doesn't
follow the track the first group thought it would-- or should.
We've gone in new and unanticipated directions because we didn't
grow up in the 1960's. Women today live different lives than
anyone thought they would thirty years ago, and feminism must
adjust accordingly. We are the next wave. If you think feminism
no longer addresses your concerns, these pages are for you.
We diverge from the second wave on a variety of topics, and to
varying degrees. Self-defense. Kids. Men and sex. Money. Our
opinions are different from theirs, but we proudly call ourselves
feminists, without doubt. Let's take a look at those opinions.
